The essence of the project for the new Swiss Embassy in Yaoundé derives from the particularity of the local climate. A big lofty roof creates a special atmosphere protecting the interior from the extreme radiation of the sun and the heavy rainfalls. The program is then organized in three simple, transparent pavilions around three courtyards.
L’essence du projet de la nouvelle ambassade suisse à Yaoundé est la particularité du climat local. Le bâtiment met clairement en valeur une qualité de vie en contact constant avec le plein air et la végétation si spécifique tant au climat qu’à la culture africaine. Le projet tourne à son avantage les contraintes énergétiques locales comme la protection solaire, la ventilation ou la récupération des eaux pluviales, et laisse sa forme générale s’en définir.
